1. Scope of this policy

This policy applies to the Name Day iOS app (shown as Meniny, Svátek or another localised name in some regions), its widgets and Apple Watch extensions, and this website. The app is operated by Peter Hlavatik.

2. Data handled by the app

Contacts and celebration dates

If you grant contact permission, the app may read a contact identifier, name, phone number and date of birth to match name-days, display birthdays and prepare personalised reminders. In the current implementation, these fields are stored locally in the app container shared with its widgets. Your address-book content is not sent to Firebase. Access is optional and can be changed at any time in iOS Settings. Revoking permission stops further address-book reads, but may not automatically remove records that were already stored.

App settings and content

Selected calendars and countries, favourites, reminder state, delivery time, message templates, widget settings and other choices needed to operate the app are also stored locally. Depending on your Apple Account settings, iOS may include this data in a system backup.

Notifications

With your permission, the app schedules local notifications for name-days, birthdays and selected dates. The device handles their content and delivery time. If remote notifications are used, registration may provide a technical token to Apple and Firebase Cloud Messaging.

3. Firebase and technical data

The app uses Google Firebase services for usage analytics, crash diagnostics, remote configuration and message delivery. Depending on the service and permission state, the following may be handled:

  • installation or device identifiers and technical tokens,
  • app version, language, country or region, device model, operating-system name and version,
  • selected calendar sources and usage events such as opening a screen or using a feature,
  • diagnostic data, crash logs, error reports and related technical context.

These services are not used to send address-book content to Firebase. Google's handling is governed by its policies, including Privacy and Security in Firebase and the Google Privacy Policy.

4. Tracking and permissions

The app uses Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework. If a particular feature or configuration requires access to an advertising identifier or tracking across other companies' apps and websites, iOS first displays the system permission request. You can change your choice at any time in iOS Settings. The App Store privacy disclosures provide the current authoritative overview of collected data categories and purposes.

5. Network sources and public holidays

To update public-holiday information, the app may communicate with an external public-holiday API. Its operator may receive normal technical request data such as IP address, time and requested URL. The app does not add contact content to this request.

6. Why we handle data

  • to provide the calendars, reminders, widgets and optional contact features you choose,
  • to maintain app compatibility, stability and security,
  • to understand feature use and improve the product,
  • to diagnose crashes and technical problems,
  • to meet legal obligations and respond to your requests.

7. Sharing and sale

We do not sell personal data. Technical data may be handled by service providers needed to operate the app, particularly Apple and Google Firebase, under their own terms. We may also disclose data where required by law or necessary to protect the rights, safety and integrity of the service.

8. Retention and deletion

Local data remains on the device until the app replaces it during a later successful sync or until you delete the app. Revoking contact permission stops further address-book reads but may not remove records already stored; system backups follow your Apple settings. Analytics and diagnostic retention follows the Firebase configuration and the provider's retention periods. To request information or deletion of data we control, email namedaycalendar.app@gmail.com.

9. Your rights

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to processing, data portability and a complaint to your supervisory authority. In Slovakia, the supervisory authority is the Office for Personal Data Protection of the Slovak Republic. Contact, notification and tracking permissions are managed directly in iOS Settings.

10. Children

The app is not specifically directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly ask them for personal data. Contact us if you believe a child has submitted information through support.

11. This website

This website uses no analytics scripts, advertising cookies or contact forms. When you open a page, Vercel hosting may handle normal technical request data such as IP address, user agent, URL and time for delivery, security and operations. See the Vercel Privacy Policy for details. App Store, Instagram and email links take you to separate providers.

12. Changes and contact

We may update this policy when features, providers or legal requirements change. We will update the effective date when we do. Send privacy questions to Peter Hlavatik at namedaycalendar.app@gmail.com.
